What we do
Our mission at Special Olympics Pennsylvania, Northampton County Program is to change lives through sports. We are very dedicated to providing athletes with special programs that allow them to participate in lifetime sports and allow them to engage in social activities.
Who we are
We currently have over 1,000 athletes in our school based programs. All of our events are run during the school day. The schools we service are in both Northampton and Monroe Counties. The training for our athletes are done during the school day and during Adapted Physical Education class.
Why we're here
Special Olympics exists to highlight the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities. While we are a sports-focused and competition-focused organization, our benefits go well beyond go well beyond the boundaries of the playing field. Research has shown that athletes who participate in special olympics are better equipped to hold jobs, live on their own and complete day-to-day tasks than their nonplaying counterparts. When's our season?
Special Olympics Pennsylvania offers year-round opportunities to volunteer and train. Contrary to the popular belief, we're more than a one-day or annual event, giving everyone an opportunity to share themselves and serve our athletes.
How can you help?
